She goes home sells her business and all her possessions, returns to Kenya to set up housekeeping with the Masai.

She is obviously a very strong and capable woman which makes this story all the more amazing. Just because a woman is naive or innocent, does not mean hogmann is okay to mistreat her or abuse her!

I also liked Father Guilio hofman I generally don’t have much time for missionaries. I wanted to yell at Corrine at her lust for Lketinga, but then I realized I too was a young woman infatuated with young men who were not in my league or just plain inappropriate.

This happens while she’s on holiday, she goes home for 6 months and then comes back to find him which she does – don’t worry, this is all very early on, Now – before I started and indeed after reading the first homann chapters, this book is making me angry. It does not get four stars because I think the prose is beautiful or profound.
Hofmann suffered several hardships, including diseases mainly malaria and marital problems. Oh, but couldn’t they? They are on continuous searches for water for their honored cattle,firewood for outdoor cooking and thornbush to protect their encampments, cows and goats from predators.
Forget Lketinga, read the book for these other people. And every time she called him “my warrior” or “my Masai” I found my teeth clenching. Corinne excuses Lketinga by claiming that it was a culture difference.

I found this book astonishing. I went inside a hut and the fire was going in the middle of the hut.
This book is more pandering to the white saviour trope and it should be nuked from the orbit. I definitely did not expect this. I found the reviews were mainly based on people’s feelings of the author herself as opposed to the actual book.
